Walking distance from my house in Maine.

At the Metropolitan Opera for Puccini’s La Bohème.

Sitting at the bar and watching the chef make your sushi is half the fun of dinner at Nobu.

My neighborhood in Manhattan.

I love having a serene view of the George Washington Bridge, right around the corner from me. It’s not the mountains, but hey, it’s something!

The cocktails and chamber music, on Friday and Saturday evenings, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art are truly New York’s best kept secret.

Sunset fall colors, from the top of my favorite hill.

If you can’t figure out that I took this in Venice, I’m not even going to tell you.

Shot by a renowned photographer friend who prefers I not disclose it, when she chooses to work for free.

A proper glass of red wine is one of the things that makes life worth living.

Winter is always my favorite time to be in the woods. What this says about me I dunno…

No matter how many times I see the view of Time Square from up high, I’m still a kid again every time.

I walk up this hill, just about every day, when I’m home in Maine.

Homemade, hand rolled pasta is a way of life.

I’m never quite sure if I should feel attracted by Las Vegas or repelled, but I do always wind up having a good time. Perhaps a moot point?

Backstage with some of the cast of Avenue Q.

I love snowshoeing on the pond, when it freezes over in winter, and usually I have the pleasure of it all to myself.

My lobsterman boys who were my neighbors, when I lived in New Brunswick, Canada. They were the best drinking buddies a girl could ask for!

The rocky, moody coast of New Brunswick where so much of my novel got written.

New York spring weekends have such a cozy domesticity.

Fort Tryon Park near my apartment.

Winter in Central Park.

Bonjour, Bordeaux.

A perfect spot to get some writing done.

Christmas in New York!

Every cafe in Paris has a million stories to tell you.

Paris at Christmas.

The great thing about staying at Le Hotel Meurice, in Paris, is that you walk out your front door in the morning and are in the middle of the greatest artistic treasure chest of all Europe.

In addition to having some of the world’s best hand-crafted beer, Kloster Andechs, in Bavaria, is also the final resting place of composer Carl Orff. Think of it as an added bonus.

If you can’t take a good picture in Italy, just put your camera down and go home.

Took this in Bavaria, where when they want to say hello they sing at you: “Grooooooos Deeeeeee!”
